Our mission
Bike shops are full of good, patient people, but the jargon gets in the way. “Your bottom bracket's shot” means nothing if you don't know what a bottom bracket is, or roughly what fixing one should cost.
Bikeautonomy is a plain-English reference — every common part, every strange noise, every maintenance job, explained the way a friend who happens to be a mechanic would. No upselling, no acronyms left undefined.
That's the autonomy in the name — walking into the bike shop informed, not intimidated, and back in control of your own bike.
If there's something you'd like us to cover, get in touch.
Who it's for
New cyclists working out what they've bought. Commuters trying to decide if a noise is serious. Parents facing their first e-bike battery question. Anyone who's nodded along in a bike shop without really following.
What it isn't
Bikeautonomy doesn't sell parts, doesn't diagnose with certainty, and isn't a replacement for a qualified mechanic looking at your actual bike. Think of it as the reading you'd do before that conversation, not instead of it.
Something you think we should add?
If you have a suggestion, get in touch and we'll do our best to bump it up the list.
