What is a Cassette?
The stack of toothed rings on your back wheel that gives you different gears.

In plain English
The cassette is the cluster of sprockets bolted to your back wheel. Moving the chain between them is what makes pedalling easier or harder.
A simple analogy
“Think of it as a staircase of gears — small steps for speed, big steps for climbing.”
How it works
Smaller sprockets need more pedal turns per wheel turn (harder, faster). Bigger sprockets need fewer (easier, slower) — ideal for hills.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Chain skips or jumps on certain sprockets
- ⚠Worn, hooked-looking teeth
- ⚠Noisy or crunchy shifting even after adjustment
