Simplified schematic — not to scale.

In plain English

The display shows you your current assist level, remaining battery, and speed, and usually lets you change assist mode with a button or two.

A simple analogy

It's your bike's dashboard — the same idea as the display in a car, just smaller and rain-resistant.

How it works

It communicates with the controller over a small data cable, both showing you the system's current state and sending your button presses back to change it.

Signs of trouble

  • Screen won't turn on
  • Error codes or flashing icons
  • Buttons unresponsive despite a charged battery
Rough UK cost

£40 – £150 to replace
