What is an E-Bike Display / Control Unit?

The display shows you your current assist level, remaining battery, and speed, and usually lets you change assist mode with a button or two.
A simple analogy
“It's your bike's dashboard — the same idea as the display in a car, just smaller and rain-resistant.”
How it works
It communicates with the controller over a small data cable, both showing you the system's current state and sending your button presses back to change it.
Signs of trouble
