What is a Seatpost?
The tube that holds the saddle at your chosen height.

The seatpost slides into the frame's seat tube and holds the saddle at whatever height suits your leg length, clamped in place with a bolt or quick-release collar.
A simple analogy

How it works
A clamp at the top of the seat tube squeezes around the post to hold it in place; the post itself just needs to be the correct diameter for the frame.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Saddle slowly sinks while riding
- ⚠Creaking noise when pedalling out of the saddle
- ⚠Visible corrosion where the post meets the frame
