Feature explained
Suspension Lockout
A switch that firms up your suspension for smooth surfaces.
Simplified schematic — not to scale.
What it is
Lockout is a lever or dial on the fork or shock that restricts (or fully stops) its movement, so pedalling energy on a smooth road or fire road isn't wasted bouncing the suspension.
Why it matters
It lets one bike do double duty — soft and absorbent on rough trails, firm and efficient on the tarmac in between.
