Thru-Axle vs Quick Release
Two ways of clamping a wheel into the frame, with a stiffness trade-off.

What it is
A quick-release skewer clamps the wheel using cam pressure on open dropouts, quick to remove but slightly less rigid. A thru-axle threads solidly through the hub into the frame itself, adding stiffness and precision, especially valued with disc brakes.
Why it matters
Thru-axles have become the standard on most disc-brake bikes because the extra rigidity improves braking precision and handling under hard braking.
