Post-Ride Clean & Dry (Winter Care)

Rinsing off road salt and grit after wet or gritted rides.

Why bother

Road salt and winter grit accelerate rust and wear far faster than plain rain, especially on the chain, cassette and brake surfaces.

How to check

  1. 1Rinse the bike with plain water, avoiding a direct high-pressure jet into bearings
  2. 2Dry the frame and components with a cloth
  3. 3Re-lubricate the chain once fully dry
  4. 4Check brake surfaces are free of grit before the next ride
How often

After every wet or gritted-road ride through autumn and winter
