Grinding Noise While Pedalling
A rough, grinding sound that follows the pedal stroke.
What's happening
A gritty, grinding feeling or sound that happens once (or twice) per pedal revolution, rather than continuously.
Likely causes
- •Worn or dry bottom bracket bearings
- •Debris or grit stuck in the chain or derailleur
- •A worn pedal bearing
What to do
Keep riding gently, but get the bottom bracket and pedals checked soon — bearings that grind will keep wearing and eventually seize.
