Safe to keep ridingWarning sign
Creaking Saddle or Seatpost
A creak that happens with every pedal stroke, from around the seat.
What's happening
A rhythmic creak or squeak that seems to come from underneath you, usually worse when pedalling out of the saddle.
Likely causes
- •Dry or loose saddle rail clamp
- •A seatpost that needs regreasing where it enters the frame
- •Loose bolts on the saddle itself
What to do
Safe to keep riding — it's annoying rather than dangerous, but worth a quick clamp check and regrease to stop it getting worse.
