What is a Handlebar?
The bar you steer with, and where your controls all attach.

In plain English
The handlebar is what your hands hold to steer, brake and shift. Its shape and width have a big effect on comfort and control.
A simple analogy
“It's your bike's steering wheel, brake pedal and gear stick, all rolled into one tube.”
How it works
The bar clamps into the stem, which is bolted to the fork's steerer tube, so turning the bar physically rotates the front wheel through that connection.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Visible cracks or stress marks, especially on carbon bars
- ⚠Creaking noise from the stem clamp area
- ⚠Numbness in hands after short rides, suggesting the wrong shape
