Bolt Torque Check
Making sure key bolts are tightened to the right spec, not just 'tight'.
Why bother
Bike bolts, especially on carbon parts, have a specific torque rating — too loose and things creak or slip, too tight and you risk cracking the part.
How to check
- 1Use a torque wrench, not just a hex key by feel
- 2Check the torque spec printed on the part itself, if given
- 3Focus on stem, seatpost clamp, handlebar clamp and pedals
- 4Recheck after fitting any new component
How often
After fitting new parts, then every few months
