Bolt Torque Check

Making sure key bolts are tightened to the right spec, not just 'tight'.

Why bother

Bike bolts, especially on carbon parts, have a specific torque rating — too loose and things creak or slip, too tight and you risk cracking the part.

How to check

  1. 1Use a torque wrench, not just a hex key by feel
  2. 2Check the torque spec printed on the part itself, if given
  3. 3Focus on stem, seatpost clamp, handlebar clamp and pedals
  4. 4Recheck after fitting any new component
How often

After fitting new parts, then every few months
