Wheel True Check
Checking the wheel spins in a perfectly straight line.
Why bother
A 'true' wheel runs dead straight with no side-to-side wobble — checking this regularly catches loose spokes before they cause bigger problems.
How to check
- 1Lift the wheel off the ground and spin it by hand
- 2Watch the gap between the rim and brake pad (or a fixed reference point)
- 3Look for any point where the rim swings noticeably left or right
- 4A wheel with a wobble over 2-3mm is worth having trued
How often
Monthly, or after any hard impact or pothole
