Wobbly or Untrue Wheel
The wheel visibly wobbles side to side as it spins.
What's happening
Watching the wheel spin (or the tyre passing the brake pads), you can see it swing slightly left and right instead of running perfectly straight.
Likely causes
- •One or more loose spokes
- •A knock or impact that's bent the rim slightly
- •A wheel that's simply worked loose over time and needs truing
What to do
Ride gently and avoid hard cornering until it's checked — a wobble can get worse quickly and a rim under uneven tension is more likely to fail.
